The St Jago High School Foundation Cricketer of the Year Award.

On Tuesday the 16th June 2026, the St Jago High School Foundation presented Vitel Lawes the first recipient of the SJHSF Cricketer of the Year Trophy and a cheque for fifty thousand ($50,000.00) dollars for his exceptional performance, sportsmanship and dedication throughout the Inter Secondary School Sports Association (ISSA) 2026 cricket season.
Vitel was on a mission this season to take St Jago out of a 25-year championship drought. So, with great skill and with bat in hand he and his team secured the coveted First Global Grace Shield Trophy. He was the tournaments leading rungetter and second in the wickets. Vitel led his team from the front and his coaches were very pleased with his performance.

His performance has resulted in him being selected by the Jamaica Ki games to be a part of their franchise in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League Championship. This is not the first time he has been called to represent Jamaica or the West Indies. He has represented Jamaica Under 17 in 2024, Jamaica U19 in 2025, West Indies U19 Vs England 2025 and World Cup 2026.

We congratulate Vitel and wish him the best on his cricketing journey.
